San
Diego, California - Robert
Egger, chairman of the supervisory committee at
Security Service Federal Credit Union in San Antonio,
Texas, was honored with NACUSAC’s 2005 Golden
Service Award. The
recognition is given to a supervisory or auditing
committee member who stands out as an example of the
significant contribution a volunteer can make to their
credit union. Egger,
who has been on the committee for 15 years and its
chairman for the past seven years, was praised for
“demonstrating exceptional leadership in developing
an outstanding supervisory committee.”
According to his credit union colleagues,
Egger, whose career included 30 years’ active duty
in the U.S. Air Force followed by an additional 19
years as the civilian Director of Security at the USAF
Air Intelligence Agency, has contributed tremendously
to the success of the progressive $3.5 billion credit
union. “Under
Mr. Egger’s guidance, the committee has effectively
worked with and monitored the Internal Audit function
to ensure thorough and professional audits are
consistently performed . . . Mr. Egger has improved
relationships and communication with credit union
management and staff while remaining objective and
independent. His
charm and sense of humor go hand in hand with his
steady judgment and his belief in open and frank
discussion.”
The
second award was presented to Richards &
Associates for NACUSAC’s 2005 Associate Member of
the Year. The
second largest credit union auditing firm in California,
Richards & Associates was elected based on their
dedication and professionalism in working with credit
unions. Mike Richards, the firm's president,
returned the compliment saying, "NACUSAC is a
tremendous resource to the credit union industry and
to supervisory and audit committees in
particular. We will continue to welcome any
opportunity to support NACUSAC's mission of educating
these important volunteers."
